The
seventh-generation of the Honda Accord remains one of the
most popular cars in America. The 2006 Accord Hybrid, debuted
as a 2005 model, achieves AT-PZEV certification which delivered
excellent fuel economy while generates very little emission.
The 2006 Accord Hybrid is a 4-door, 5 passenger family sedan;
it is available in two trims, the 5-speed automatic transmission
and the 5-speed automatic transmission with navigation system.
The Accord Hybrid?s IMA system is equipped with a 3.0-liter i-VTEC V-6 engine with Integrated
Motor Assist (output of 253 horsepower @ 6000 rpm and 232
lb-ft. of torque at 5000 rpm)
that achieves 25 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway.

The 2006 Honda Accord delivers
high levels of quality and performance
and ranks at the top of its
class among mid-size, medium-priced
cars. The four-cylinder models
are a benchmark for the class.
Accord V6 models deliver sporty
performance. The Accord Hybrid
combines the sporty V6 engine
with the fuel efficiency of

CNet.com
The most surprising thing about
the 2006 Accord Hybrid's performance
is its relatively weak gas mileage.
Despite what the EPA says--25mpg
in the city and 34mpg on the
highway--we observed an average
of 23.5mpg in mixed metro driving.
Not only is this far worse than
the gas mileage for the 2007
Camry Hybrid (35mpg in the same
conditions), but it is even
lower than CNET's observed mileage
for the gasoline-only 2006 Honda
Accord EX, which got an overall
reading of 24.9mpg on a trip
down Southern California's notoriously
congested I-5......read

Edmunds.com/Insideline
While the word "hybrid" is not
meant to be synonymous with
fuel-efficiency, common usage
has certainly created the expectation
of improved gas mileage in these
vehicles. But Honda decided
to tune this Accord for performance
over fuel mileage. This has
made it a hit with lead-foot
drivers who revel in the feeling
of low-end grunt. However, it
has triggered the scorn of drivers
who see the poor mileage as
a sign of betrayal.
